Antihistamines help reduce allergic symptoms by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine. Histamine is produced by the body in response to foreign substances which the body is allergic to.
Claratyne® and Children’s Claratyne® relieve the symptoms of seasonal and year round allergic rhinitis and urticaria such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, watery or itchy eyes and itchy skin. Bayer distributes Claratyne® in Australia.

What Allergies is Claratyne® and Children’s Claratyne® used for and what symptoms does it relieve?
Claratyne® and Children’s Claratyne® is a non-sedating antihistamine that can provide fast, non-drowsy, 24-hour relief of the symptoms of hayfever and year round allergies such as, sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, itchy eyes and itchy rash.

There at three Claratyne® products, Claratyne® Tablets, Children’s Claratyne® Chewable Tablets and Children’s Claratyne® Syrups
Claratyne® tablets
Claratyne® tablets are indicated for use in the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria in adults & children 12 years of age and older.
Claratyne® tablets are available in packs of 5, 10, 30, 60 and 80 tablets.
Children’s Claratyne® chewable tablets
Children’s Claratyne® chewable tablets are indicated for treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria in adults and children 2 years of age and older.
Children’s Claratyne® chewable tablets are available in the following pack sizes and flavours:
- Children's Claratyne® Bubblegum chewable tablets - 10 tablets and 30 tablets
- Children's Claratyne® Grape chewable tablets - 10 tablets and 30 tablets
Children’s Claratyne® syrups
Children’s Claratyne® syrups are indicated for treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria in children 1-12 years of age.
Children’s Claratyne® syrups are available in the following pack sizes and flavours:
- Children's Claratyne® Grape syrup - 60 mL and 120 mL.
- Children's Claratyne® Peach syrup - 60 mL and 150 mL.

DIRECTIONS
Claratyne® tablets
Directions for use:
Adults and children 12 years and over: One tablet, once daily as necessary.
Warnings:
Do not use this product:
- In children under 12 years of age
- If blister seal is broken
Consult your doctor before use:
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have liver disease
Caution:
- Consult your doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist
- Contains lactose and sulfites
Children’s Claratyne® chewable tablets
Directions for use:
- Separate one blister tablet from the blister card
- Lift and peel the edge of the paper
- Remove tablets only for immediate use
- Chew the tablet then swallow
Children 2 - 9 years: 1 tablet once daily as necessary.
Adults and Children 9 years+ : 2 tablets once daily as necessary
Warnings:
Do not use this product:
- In children under 2 years of age
- If the child cannot chew the tablet. Children's Claratyne syrup is available for use in young children.
- If blister seal is broken
Consult your doctor before use:
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have liver disease
Caution:
- Consult your doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist.
- Phenylketonurics are warned that this product contains aspartame (phenylalanine)
Children’s Claratyne® syrups
Directions for use:
Children 1 - 2 years: 2.5 mL once daily as necessary.
Children 2 - 12 years:
- Up to 30 kg - 5 mL once daily as necessary.
- Over 30 kg - 10 mL once daily as necessary.
Use suitable measuring device to measure the dose accurately.
Warnings:
Do not use this product:
- In children under 1 year of age
- If cap seal is broken
Consult your doctor before use:
- For children under 2 years of age
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have liver disease
Caution:
- Consult your doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist.
- Contains benzoates, sucralose, sorbitol and maltitol (5.9 g/10 mL). Products containing sorbitol and maltitol may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea.

Take Claratyne® with a glass of water. Claratyne® can be taken with or without food.
Are Claratyne® and Claritin® the same?
Claritin® is a brand name for loratadine products marketed by Bayer in some countries outside of Australia including United States of America.
The Claritin® brand name is not marketed in Australia. Claratyne® and Children’s Claratyne® are available for purchase in Australia.
When does Claratyne® start to work?
The onset of action for Claratyne® is variable from patient to patient however, studies have shown onset of action to be approximately 1 hour.
Are there any interactions with Claratyne®?

Can children take Claratyne®?

Can I take Claratyne® with other antihistamines?
Claratyne® and Children’s Claratyne® contain the active ingredient loratadine and provide 24 hour relief for symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. One antihistamine product should be used daily as necessary, they should not be used at the same time.
