About the FOODSENS Project

FSANZ is seeking to better understand the ways in which people’s food hypersensitivities affect quality of life and the monetary value that people place on the removal of the symptoms and limitations imposed by food hypersensitivities. The latter is to help understand the costs imposed upon society by food hypersensitivities.

This project uses the same approach as that used in a recent UK project (External Link), funded by the UK Food Standards Agency, conducted by Burton with colleagues at University of Manchester. The approach uses an online survey in which people answer questions about their (child’s) food hypersensitivities, the impact on their lives, and asks them to make some ‘what would you do’ choices.

How the study runs

The study will later involve an online survey but this initial stage involves online focus groups to test the draft of that survey.

The duration of the online focus groups will be 60 minutes.

Participants will receive compensation for their time as per the below-

  • Australia: AUD $50 gift card
  • New Zealand: NZD $50 gift card
